Papa's Got A Brand New Bag

Take away all of the pain and the rain Dear Lord, and let Your light shine on me!  There is brighter day ahead of you, and God is on your side.  Victory today is yours!  Celebrate today for victory that is sure to come tomorrow through Christ Jesus who is the conqueror of all!  Give God praise for this day, because there was a purpose in Him making it, and there was a purpose for you being here to share in its glory and wonder. 

Good day to you all! Take a moment today and give thanks for the small things.  Those things that you may take for granted.  Let God know that you notice the small details of His love, and larger blessings will come!

“No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment.  If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made.  And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If they do the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined.  No, they pour the new wine into new wineskins.” Mark 2:21-22

June is Black Music Month, and I could not go through this month without mentioning the Godfather of Soul: James Brown.  James Brown was a musical pioneer who was known for his upbeat rhythms, and his innovative dance style.  James was known as the hardest working man in show business.  One of his signature songs was ‘Papa’s’ Got a Brand New Bag’.  In this song James is letting the world know that he has got a new bag of dance moves.  He wants you to know that he is up with the times.  He’s got a new dance and he is ready to show you what he has got.  He aint no drag, Papa’s got a brand new bag.  Sometimes it is good to have a new bag. 

Dear Reader, I don’t know if you know how to dance or not, but I want you to have a new bag.  So many times we sew new patches over old cloth, and wonder why the patches won’t stay.  So many times we try to fit extra large blessings into a medium mind set, and then we wonder why everything just falls apart.  Dear Reader on this day I want to encourage you to get a brand new bag.  Get rid of you last year attitude, and last year’s negativity.  God has some this year blessings for you.  Extra large blessing will only fit  with extra large expectations.  You cannot expect to make a profit with a break even mentality.  I want to encourage you to be strong and stand boldly on God’s promise to you.  In order to receive a miracle expect a miracle!  God is going to get you where you need to be, but He cannot put new wine in an old wine skins. Throw away your old way of thinking, and your old expectations.  Get a new praise, and refresh your faith.  God is going to bless you with something new!  Be excited Dear Reader:  Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag!

Praise God in everything that you do.  No matter how big or how small, let the God that is in you come out. Everywhere that you go bring the peace, love and joy that can only come from God into every place and let it fill every space.  There is no limit to His love and mercy, so extend unlimited love and mercy to those who are in your path and there will be a blessing in store for you!

Good day to you all!  Praise God for this day because every day is another chance for us to cast our eyes on His glorious creation!

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:1-21

Growing up I wasn’t any different than any other kid.  When it came to the things that I wanted in life it had to have a brand name.  If I wanted some shoes I would ask my mother for Nikes.  I didn’t want to go to Payless because if I got shoes from Payless they wouldn’t  have a brand name attached to them.  I wanted my friends to know that I was cool.  I wanted to let everyone that saw me know that I was hip. I had friends that had to have Polo shirts, and the biggest brand of them all when I was in high school was Tommy Hilfiger.  Each brand was expensive, and had its own signature trademark to let you know how it stood out from all the rest.  The “swoosh” on the Nike, let you know that it was not Reebok.  The horse and rider symbol on the front of the shirt indicated a Polo shirt.  However, there were those who wanted to have the brand name, but didn’t want to pay the brand name price.  They would buy the “bootleg” version so that they could look like they were wearing the same thing as everyone else.  What they did not know was that from a distance it may look the same, but upon closer inspection it was not hard to tell the difference.

Dear Reader I want to encourage you today to brand yourself with Jesus.  This is not a brand that is on the outside for the world to see, but the brand is in your heart, and will show up in everything that you do.  You can have love, but when Jesus is branded on that love, that love is unconditional, and is patient and kind. You can have peace, but when Jesus is the brand name on that peace, it will exceed all human understanding. Dear Reader I have to warn you that there will be those who want to look the part.  They don’t want to pay the price, but they want to look like they are wearing the real thing.  They are trying to put on the bootleg armor of Christ.  From a distance they may fool some folks, but upon closer inspection of they don’t know how to talk to people, and they don’t try to  encourage. They cause more confusion, and peace does not follow them into the room when they enter.  That’s how you know they are not wearing the same brand. When Jesus puts His brand on you, all things are made new.  His love, grace and mercy are His signature trademark, and His copyright was granted on the cross. Dear Reader, I don’t need Nike, Hilfiger, or Polo to impress the world because this world is not my home! Give me Jesus!  Give me Jesus!  He is all I need. In everything that I do, I want Jesus to come out!  Brand yourself in the name of the Lord, and let Jesus be your brand name!

The HEAT is On

You are closer to your dreams that you realize.  Your faith has gotten you this far, and on this day God is favoring you with His grace and His mercy!  Tell someone else your story.  Let someone else know how God has blessed you because when you do this you are inspiring someone to put their faith in God.  You are bringing someone who is close to giving up back from  the brink of despair.  Continue to be a blessing to someone because your light is needed. Today.

Good day to you all!  Do not talk yourself out of your blessings.  Do not walk away from your miracle.  God moves when you least expect Him to, so never give up on your or your situation.  Stay strong and hold on for just a little while longer.  God see’s your struggle and He is already working out your exit plan.  I say again, stay strong!

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4

In case you did not know by now, I am originally from the great state of Florida.  It should be no surprise to anyone that I am a Miami Heat fan, and watching my team win a championship was a beautiful thing to me.  In order to win a championship it takes a lot of work and a lot of work under pressure.  Things are not going to go your way every game. People will see your talents and skills and will still doubt whether or not you can make it to your goal. Funny thing about people is that they can see your talents, but they cannot measure your heart.  The heart of a champion does not rely on skill alone to make it beat.  The heart of a champion takes adversity and filters out the negativity to learn a lesson that it can use in the future.  The heart of a champion does not allow the size of the challenge to intimidate or overwhelm. Adversity and heartbreak are used as motivation. I tell you Dear Reader, you can never underestimate the heart of a champion.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Dear Reader the heat is on!  You may be in the middle of a hot situation right now.  I want you to know on this day that if God is in your heart, you have the heart of a champion.  The same Jesus who fed 5,000 with just a few fish and a few loaves of bread is still feeding the masses.  The same Jesus that brought Lazarus back to life is still bringing those dreams that you thought were dead, back to life.  Dear Reader the heat is on, but Jesus is like cooling water from grandma’s well.  You may be going through something right now that seems too big for you.  That is because it is too big for you. However, whatever you are going through is not too big for God.  People are going to doubt you.  People are going to say that you will never get a championship ring.  There are even going to be people that are going to root against you.  They are going to watch you just to see if you lose. They are going to talk about you anyway, so why not give them something to talk about.  Dear Reader, they may see your talents, but they can’t measure the size of the miracle that God has for you.  They can see that you are good at what you do, but they don’t know that it is not you that makes you good.  They cannot see that your source is God almighty.  Don’t worry about the heat, a little sweat aint never hurt nobody. Dear Reader the same Jesus that took on death, hell, and the grave and won all three at home, is there to assist you.  On this day I want you to celebrate your victory!  Celebrate the victory that is on the way!  Be excited because you are a champion. You are no longer trapped because God has already made a way out for you.  The Heat is on, but if you dance in the fire, you will not dance alone.  Jesus is with you Dear Reader!

P.U.S.H for me, and I will P.U.S.H. for You

Tell the storms to move!  Tell the mountains to get out of your way!  Tell your enemies that they cannot stop you!  The lions will shut their mouths when you are thrown in the den!  The fiery furnace will turn into a bon fire, and a pep rally!  God has already put His favor in the mix for you!  God has already covered you with His grace and mercy!  God is doing a great thing in your life, so in everything that you do give God the glory!  Give God the praise!

Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints Ephesians 6:18

Sometimes we need a little push.  There are times when we are close to where we want to be, and all we need is a push.  I am reminded of a little girl on a swing set in the park.  She was on the swings and could not get any higher, then she turned to her father and said, “Daddy I want to go higher, so I need you to push me.”  Every now and then we need a little push.  Sometimes when an athlete is at the top of his game, he is asked how he was able to achieve at such a high level.  Every now and then he or she will say that there was a coach that pushed them to bring out the best in them.  There would be days when they didn’t want to practice.  There would be times when fatigue had gotten the best of them but there was someone who saw greatness in them and that someone pushed them, because that was the only way that the greatness within would come out.  I say again, every now and then we need a little push.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.  James 5:16

Dear Reader, I want to give you a push today.  P.U.S.H. means  Pray Until Something Happens.  Sometimes, we need someone to P.U.S.H. for us in order to get over the obstacles that are in our way.  Sometimes the only way that we can go any higher in life is if we have someone who is behind is give us a PUSH.  I want you to know Dear Reader that it is so easy to get to our goals and forget how we got there.  I want you to remember that when it comes right down to it, there is nothing wrong with looking back on the days when you did not believe in yourself.  Remember those times when you did not know that there was greatness in you, but there was someone with a keen eye that recognized what you couldn’t see.  It is ok to recognize that someone was PUSHing you to be all that you could be.  God wants us to pray for each other so I will make a deal with you today: Dear Reader if you PUSHfor me, I will PUSH for you!  I know that there will be days when fatigue will set in, and you don’t want to practice what the scriptures have taught you, but that is when you need aPUSH! We will Pray Until Something Happens!  God is working out a miracle for you, and I am praying for you.  The odds may be stacked against you, but I am praying for you!  You may think that you are at the end of your rope, but Dear Reader, if you are reading this, then I am praying for you.  God hears your prayers, and He is watching over you.  Keep praying until something happens.

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven Matthew 18:19

Sign O The Times

When you were at your lowest point God said to you, “I know you want to leave me, but I refuse to let you go!” It was God’s unchanging hand that held you when you were in the midst of the storm. God protected you from danger that you didn’t even know was there.  You are His child at He has held you in His arms with such loving care. Smile today, and know that God is with you today just as He has always been.

Good day to you all! I know that sometimes the days can seem like they are long, and they may seem to run together, but understand that God has a purpose for every minute of your life, and you are instrumental in His plan!

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.  2 Timothy 3:1-5

We have all heard stories about ‘the good ol’ days’. There is always someone who is more than willing to reminisce about a “better” time.  We have all heard about the days when people could leave their front door unlocked.  We have all heard about the days when people could sleep with their windows open with no fear.  We all want to feel safe and protected so we take steps and measures to try to ensure our safety.  We keep those windows closed and we make sure that we lock the double bolt on our front doors. We lock up our cars and tell our children not to talk to strangers.  Yes, we are cautious in this unpredictable, unstable, world that we live in today. 

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Dear Reader, I want you to know that God has His hands on you.  Dear Reader I want you to know that you can lock all of your doors and windows and activate the alarm on your car, and you still cannot match the safety that is in God’s loving arms.  People will try to convince you that this world is falling apart.  They will point to the news and say that these are the signs of the time.  However, I want you to know that God has given us a sign of the time.  When Jesus died on the cross for our sins He gave us a new sign.  Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.  I may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, but I shall fear no evil. Dear Reader I want to encourage you to tune out those who would try to convince you that the world is falling apart.  When you believe in God almighty, you are under the protection of a legion of angels.  Have no fear because there is nothing that the world can do to you.  Don’t let the troubles of this world trouble you! Fear not Dear Reader God has got His hands on you!

Breaking Dishes

May the Angels be with you to protect you on your journey.  May God cover you with His love in everything that you do!  My prayer for you is not that you receive all of your material desires, my prayer for you is that you receive your spiritual anointing.  Your ministry will become clear, and your heart will be satisfied.  There is power in the name of Jesus, so on this day when you feel weak, I pray that you will let He that is in control of all strengthen you!

Good day to you all!  May God be with you today, and always!

Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. We have come to the end of Black Music Month, and in order to expand my old school horizon, I started listening to music that I normally don’t. I came across a song that I found interesting.  The song is called ‘Breaking Dishes’, and it is by Rhianna.  In this song she is describing how upset she is when she discovers that her boyfriend is being untrue.  She talks about how frustrated she has been. In her final act of frustration she says that she is going to be breaking dishes all night long.  Now, me being the simple person that I am, the first thing that I thought of was, ‘How is she going to eat if she breaks all of her dishes?’. I thought about the mess that she would make. I thought about the fact that she would have to clean up that mess.  All for a situation that she cannot do anything about anyway.  Dear Reader, it also made me think about how many of us are breaking our own dishes.

Dear Reader, I know that you get frustrated every now and then.  I know that there are times when you want to release that frustration and everything around you is fair game.  I want to encourage you today, when you get in those moments of frustration, to give that situation to God in prayer.  What you call revenge, is actually hurting yourself and everything around you. Dear Reader if you break your own dishes how are you going to eat? How can your cup overflow with blessing when you have thrown your cup up against the wall?  What I am saying is that if you destroy the gifts that God has blessed you with, how can God feed your soul.  Sometimes we are starving spiritually, and it is because we break our own dishes.  We don’t just break one or two, we break dishes all night long.  Dear Reader, give those frustrating people to God.  Give your frustrating job to God.  Give that frustrating relationship to God.  Give that frustrating boss to God. Now that you have given those things to God, here is what I want you to do next: smile.  If you are sweet to those who are sour to you, it will leave a bad taste in their mouth.  Your coolness in the situation will feel like hot coals on their head.  God will handle the situation that you have given to him, and the best part is that your dishes will be intact.  Your cup will be able to overflow because you have not broken your cup.  Dear Reader don’t go around breaking dishes, give your situation to God, and He will take care of everything.

Never Forget

When the praises go up the blessing shall rain down from Heaven.  God is in the middle of the storm with you so don’t think that you are in it by yourself.  You have an friend in Jesus and He shall make a way for you when no way seems possible.  A dead end is just another chance for God to resurrect a new beginning for you!  Stay in prayer, be encouraged, and be a blessing to someone else.  God is on your side, so rejoice today!

Good day to you all!  You pray for me, and I will pray for you, and we will be better together!  You are a miracle so everything that you touch will be have your miraculous DNA all over it!  Today is your day!

We live in a time where people have a short memory. We live in a time where what happens on today may soon be forgotten about tomorrow.  What is good news today, is old news tomorrow. I bring this to your attention on this day because I want you to be aware that there is something that is worth celebrating and remembering every day.  Dear Reader never forget how beautiful you are! Sometimes we get so used to people telling us what we are not, that we forget about what we are.  There are so many people who will look at your cover without bothering to read your book, but I tell you to first know the content of your own pages.  I tell you that one of the best things that you can do is know your own plot lines, and your own character.  I tell you that you content may be greater than the cover of your book, but what good does it do if you can’t do a book report on yourself.  I am telling you this because the novel that is your life is a beautiful piece of literature written by the hand of God.  Never forget how beautiful you are.

Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious 1Peter3:3-4

Dear Reader, never let anyone change how you feel about you.  Never forget how beautiful you are.  Your shades and hues, your rhythms and your blues. Never let anyone tell you that your beauty needs to be improved because the beauty that is in you has been sung about in the heavens and caused the earth to be moved.  Never let anyone tell you that your beauty has a flaw because the beauty that you posses makes the stars jealous and the roses look upon you and are in awe. Dear Reader the world cannot see what a masterpiece you really are, the world cannot see that you are a work of art.  God placed beauty so deep inside of you that your outside is not where is begins that could only be where it starts.  I know that you have a lot to do but I would invite you to take just a little while, and admire your dimples and marvel at the wonder of your smile.  I think you would be amazed at the love that is in your heart that you thought was broken.  When you reflect on your life and see that you have survived, not because of your own strength, but because God has spoken.  I tell you Dear Reader to be mindful because it is oh so easy to do. When it comes to the creation that you see in the mirror, never forget the beauty that is inside of you!

Final Exams

Let everything that you do, reflect the God that is in you. Let the God that is in you come out when you are helping or uplifting someone. Let the God that is in you come out when you are showing someone love, or compassion. That little light of yours won’t have any choice but to shine when everything that God has put inside of you comes out of you. Every day you are blessed with another opportunity to bless someone else.

Good day to you all! The road may not be easy, but your destination is your destiny. God has made plans for you and there is no one that can stand in your way!

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16

In school I was always good at taking tests. I will admit that sometimes I would study at the last minute, and by the grace of God I would pass the test anyway. I know that some of my classmates were not able to accomplish the task of passing without studying. As a matter of fact some of the people that I went to school with could only pass the test if it was an open book test. They had a hard time retaining the information, and for some reason they were not able to apply a method of study that would allow them to reproduce the information when it was time to be examined. So no matter how hard they tried to study, when test time came around they would draw a blank. However they would get a chance to redeem themselves when the teacher would say, pull out your text, this is an open book test.

Dear Reader I want you to know that they are going to be some difficult tests in life. God did not promise us an easy road, but He promised us that He would be there every step of the way. When we come to the fork in the road sometimes it can be hard for us to decide which way to go. When you come across those situations that seem impossible, know that God has not left you, He is only testing you. Now I know that I told you that I was able to pass tests in school without studying, but the same is not true in the real world. When it came to the ups and downs and ins and outs of life I found myself drawing a blank. I was having a hard time retaining the information. Dear Reader, I was trying to answer all of the question on my own, until God told me that I was working too hard. God made it plain that I was racking my brain, when all the while it was an open book test. All I had to do was open up my Bible and read the answers to the test in the text. Dear Reader let me save you some time. When it comes to the tests that this world may lay in front of you, it’s good if you know the information, but if you have a moment where the information escapes you, I want you to know that it is an open book test. As a bonus today I am even going to give you some answers out of the answer key.

You have been going through something for a very long time, and don’t know what to do. The Answer can be found in Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer

You don’t think God has a plan for you? The answer can be found in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

You want to know what true love is? The answer can be found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 Love is patient and kind; loves does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away, as for tongues they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away

Dear Reader there are so many answers that we can find in God’s word. Once you seek Him for your answers you will agree with the author of Hebrews when he wrote in chapter 4 verse 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Dear Reader you are now ready to take your test. You are ready for life’s final exams. Be of good joy while you are being tested, because once you pass the test you will move on to the next level.

Make It Last Forever

God made you to be beautiful so don’t let what people say about you affect the way that you think about you. There is so much potential in you to reach so many people. Your actions are an influence on someone who will want to mirror what you do. If they see you feeding someone, or encouraging someone, or giving your testimony, the seed will be planted and they will want to do the same. So on this day go out and plant the seeds of hope and change and watch what God turn an empty field into a beautiful garden.

Good day to you all! I am praying that whatever is holding you back from getting to your dreams will be moved out of your way. Pray the same for yourself, and believe that God is moving on your behalf.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2

I have always been told that nothing lasts forever. I have always heard that all good things come to an end. I believed this for a long time, until I realized that there was an exception to the rule. I used to be of the belief that if I had something good, it was only going to be good for a little while. If I loved someone they would only love me for a little while. If I had a good feeling, according to what I was told, it would only be good for a short amount of time. I am so glad that I opened my Bible and I read in Hebrews 13:8 Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. When I read this I had an eye opening moment. I started to but the expression in context. I had to start saying it correctly. I changed that old saying to: All Good things that are man-made, will come to an end. Nothing that is of this earth lasts forever.

The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you Jeremiah 31:3

Dear Reader I want to let you know on this day that God’s love lasts forever. God is the one good thing that lasts forever. As a matter of fact I dare you to say that trouble don’t last always. A Cadillac will look good for a season. A Mercedes will shine when it’s on the lot. You can get the clear coat paint, or the rust proof under coating, but Dear Reader those things will surely pass away. I want you to know that God is good all the time. I want you to know that your troubles will only be there for a little while. Your trials will only last for a little while. Your storm will only last for a little while, but Dear Reader you serve an everlasting, and ever loving God that is not going anywhere. I want you to hold on to the everlasting joy that only comes from Jesus. When you have the kind of joy that makes you smile on a rainy day, or makes you laugh in the face of the ones that curse you, then you start to sing like the brother Keith Sweat, and you say, “Lord, my God, Make it Last Forever. I could not do it without You!” Dear Reader eternal happiness is yours. You may not have the biggest house on the block, you might not live on the best block in the neighborhood. You may not drive a great big Cadillac, you may not have a car at all, just be grateful for what you got. And what you got is joy that no one can take. A Savior that no one can touch, and a love that no one can match. Put your trust in God today, and there is no need to worry about tomorrow, because you will have life everlasting, and the joy that you have, God will make it last forever.

I Feel Like Bustin' Loose

When God’s favor is on you, it does not matter what the world says about you. It doesn’t matter what people think about you. When God’s favor is covering you, you everything that you touch will be favored as well. Your family will be covered, your dreams will become clearer. I encourage you to seek God’s favor because it will change your life. Doors will open and a window from heaven will open up and poor you out a blessing

Good day to you all! Never forget to pray for yourself! Sometimes we can forget the importance of making sure that someone else is taken care of that we forget to take care of ourselves. I will pray for you, and you pray for me, but don’t forget to ask God to protect you, and bless you!

We all want to be free. As Americans we enjoy a certain degree of freedom, yet our human limitations can sometimes make us feel as though we can only go so far. Sometimes it feels as though there is a divide between where we are and where our promised land lies. I can tell you that I know what it is like to be tied up by the ropes of unemployment. My mouth has been bound and gagged by loneliness. My feet were shackled by heartbreak, and hopelessness. All I wanted was to be free. All I wanted to do for so long was bust loose.

Dear Reader when you get tired of being tied down by what is oppressing you, I want to encourage you to bust loose. I want to encourage you to seek God, and the word of God, and He will set you free. Often times we don’t even know that we are a prayer away from being let loose. Yes, I was held back, but I looked up to God one day and I said, ‘I feel like bustin’ loose’. I looked at that divide that was between me and my promised land and I said, I feel like bustin’ loose gimmie the bridge God, gimmie the bridge God. Dear Reader I was bustin’ loose in the meantime, and bustin loose made me feel fine. I’m talking about bustin’ loose. God gave us life that we could live more abundantly. Sometime we forget about the freedom that Salvations affords us. We don’t have to be tied down by what we look like, or how much our clothes cost. We are no longer slaves to our environment. We are not longer held back by public opinion. If you are still in bondage by these things, I highly recommend that you bust loose, and God will give you the bridge to cross into your promised land.

Your storm is coming to an end, and there is a brighter day on the horizon. Do not fear the change in the weather because God has a beautiful, and bright forecast for your life. Let your faith be renewed , and let your spirit be overjoyed because God is the same God that pulled you through before, and He has not changed. You are more than a conqueror and the victory is yours today!

I am not a night club person anymore, but when I did frequent the night clubs I can remember that everyone that was left in the club would find someone to dance with. Often the DJ would put on some upbeat music for that last song, and the people would dance because the night was over. The night was over, and most of the club had cleared out, but the people that were left wanted one more chance to have that last dance. They may have been dancing to celebrate. They may have been dancing to forget, but when they saw the time, and heard the final call they knew that there was only one more chance for them to dance.

Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! Psalm 149:3

Dear Reader I want to encourage you to dance one more time. I want to encourage you to stop and think about how good God has been to you. I want you to think about where you are now, and compare that to where you could be. I want you to think about the miracle of life that you have been blessed with. When I think about the love that God has bestowed up me, I want to dance. When I think about Jesus dying on the cross for me, I want to dance. Everybody else may be gone, but you don’t need a whole lot of people to dance with you. You don’t have to be Michael Jackson, and you don’t have to be Prince. When you are praising God you can just throw your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don’t care. If you don’t want to dance with me, let me show you how I can snap my fingers and do my step, cause I can do that all by myself. I may break dance because the devil had me but by the grace of God I was able to break free! You may be going through something right now, but God is about to remix your situation. He is letting you know that your night time is over and there is a dawn of a new day coming. So let’s dance, the last dance. Let’s dance the last dance, tonight! Yes He scolds us when we are oh so bad, but He loves us enough to forgive us of our sins. Faith is when you celebrate the victories that have yet to come. The night time in your life is over so let’s dance one more time!

How Deep Is Your Love

How great is our God? He is greater than all of your enemies and all of your problems. He is able to work through any weapon that is formed against us so that we can prosper. God gave us life and He wants us to live that life more abundantly! Don’t spend too much time with your mind on your enemies because that is precious time that you could be spending thinking about the goodness and grace that God has afforded you on this day! Our God is a good God and He is worthy to be praised!

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

We have been told that if something is too good to be true then it probably is. We seek proof in order to justify most things. We want to be assured that we are on the right path. When it comes to love we seek the same assurance as we do in most things, because we want to protect our hearts from being hurt. We have all been heartbroken and it is not a good feeling. So it is reasonable to ask someone who claims to love you, “How deep is your love?” We know that love can be a sacrifice, and sometimes we want to know how much someone is willing to sacrifice in order to show us how much love they have for us. We want to know how deep that love goes. We want to know if it is love that is just on the surface or if it goes all the way down to the root. We want to know if it just sounds good when things are good, or if it is a love that is deeply rooted enough to withstand the rain and the storms that can rise up out of nowhere and attempt to destroy what is beautiful. How deep is your love?

Dear Reader, I want to encourage you to smile today! I want to encourage you to smile even though what you are going through is not comfortable. I want you to smile even through where you are might not want you to be. I want you to smile because God loves you. If you want to ask God, “How deep is your love”, you can, but I am here to tell you that God has already answered that question for you. He answered that question when He sent His son down to earth to become just like you and me. His name is Jesus and he is a king that was born in a manger. He wanted you to know that it doesn’t matter where you start, it’s all about where you finish. Jesus came down from Heaven in order to set us free. I don’t know about you, but that seems pretty deep to me. God does not want any of us to miss the train that is going to heaven so He sent a ticket Master down, and said give away these tickets for free. Jesus wants you to know how deep His love goes that is why He continues to bless us even when we don’t deserve it. He forgives us even when we feel that we are unforgiveable. His love is so deep that no matter how many leaves we may lose, our roots are not going anywhere. When we love God there are going to be storms that will come up out of nowhere that will attempt to separate us from that love, but Dear Reader Jesus is right there in the storm with you and He will say to the storm PEACE BE STILL. That’s how deep His love is. Dear Reader smile today, smile next week, because no matter what you go through God has already worked it out, and the victory is yours. That’s how deep His love is!

Wild Flowers

Get the shackles off my feet so I can dance! I just want to praise Him! God has blessed us over and over again, and He is faithful to supply us with all of our needs. He has made a way out of no way over, and over again, so I say to you on this day, rejoice! There is power in your praise, and there is power in your prayer, so don’t sweat the details! You are a child of a mighty God! Go forward and be blessed!

Good day to you all! Be a blessing to someone that you don’t know today and you will feel the joy in your heart expand tremendously!

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Take a moment today and look at where you are, and realize that you are here because there was a divine purpose written on the blue print of your life. There is a sacred promise that was etched into your soul that no one can erase. At one time you were a wild flower. At one time you were un-pruned. You were growing, but you were barely making it. Then you realized that you needed some miracle grow and that is when God transplanted you. He moved you into a more controlled environment. As you grow sometimes He has to remove the weeds from around you because they will try to choke you out. He removed you from outside of His garden where you were growing wild, and now you are in His garden and He is a good and perfect gardener. Take a moment and thank Him for His expert pruning. The reason why pruning is important is because sometime dead weight can collect on a flower and keep that flower from growing properly. Sometimes in order to get the flower to shape correctly the flower must be pruned, and sometimes a plant just cannot produce the fruit that it needs to produce unless it is pruned before the harvest.

Dear Reader I want to encourage you to praise Him during your pruning! It may have seemed like you were you were doing good on your own, but once the Master scoops you up and transplants you into His garden, God is going to do everything that is good for you in order for you to grow. That means that there may be some fertilizer that you may have to go through in order to get the nutrients that you need. Some weeds may be creeping up next to you in order to choke you out, but God has got some weed be gone to get rid of those things that would seek to keep you from growing. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. God is a gardener who is very attentive to His garden. Doesn’t it feel good to know that the one who is looking over you is not just an overseer, but He is the creator. He loves each and every one of us, and He makes sure that there is just enough rain to fall, and that you have enough Son to bloom. Fear not Dear Reader, the gardener is at hand and He is doing everything that He can do in order to make sure that you are the most beautiful flower that you can be.

Right about now you are in the middle of your story, and there is more that is going to unfold. I know that it may seem like the end, but believe me when I tell you that God is not done with you. I am going to share something about myself with you, Dear Reader. I love lemonade. Now I can tell you that everyone does not make lemonade the same. Some of the best lemonade is made with freshly squeezed lemons, real cane sugar, and ice cold water. It almost makes me thirsty just describing it to you in these words. The key to making it perfectly is to get the right mix. I have had lemonade that was too sweet. I have had lemonade that was too watery. I remember when I used to drink Country Time lemonade. They advertised that their lemonade was made country style. I read the ingredients one day, and I found out that country time does not use real lemons in their lemonade. I have been to the country, and I can tell you that in the country they use real lemons in everything. This made me select another brand of lemonade because without the right blend of sweet, and tart, the lemonade would not be as good. Nothing can replace real lemons when it comes to making lemonade.

Dear Reader, I don’t know about life being like a box of chocolates, but I can tell you that life is like a pitcher of lemonade. Sometimes in this life we want everything to be watered down. We don’t want to get the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Then there are some who want everything to be sweet. We don’t want any trials and we don’t want any struggles. Then there are those who want their lemonade to be like Country Time. We want the lemon taste, but we want it to be artificial flavoring. Dear Reader, I want to tell you aint nothing like the real thing! Dear Reader in order to make the perfect mix, God is going to throw some lemons in your pitcher. The lemons by themselves are sour, but they were not meant to be consumed alone. God is mixing the good and the bad together in order to get the perfect blend in your pitcher. Don’t be discouraged when you have lemons in your life, it just means that you being made whole. Don’t concern yourself to much with the ingredients, just keep on praising the one that is doing the stirring. Understand Dear Reader that when God is mixing everything up in your life, and the Holy Spirit is stirring , the results will perfect to the last drop!

The Motown Sound

You are beautiful today, and you will be beautiful tomorrow. You were beautiful yesterday, and there is nothing that anyone can do about that! Knowing that you are beautiful, is just as important as being beautiful! Don’t let anyone tell you anything different! God made you and when He made you there was a divine purpose in His plan. Rejoice in who you are, and know that you transform your mirror into a masterpiece every time you are in front of it!

As a fan of music one of my favorite era’s was the Motown era. There were so many acts and so many classic songs. It was always amazing to me how a record label could grow in such a small amount of time. I studied Motown and its artist closely. They all seemed to shine. From the perfect harmony of a Four Tops song, to the crisp and precise steps of the Temptations, to the glamour of the Supremes, Motown seemed to have it all together. A lot of the acts that were on Motown were from Detroit’s inner city and they were given lessons on how to be professional recording artists. God will do the same with us. He will take us when we are tired and broken, and He will put a shine on us so that the world can see that where we were was not our final destination, it was only a stop along the way. With artist that span from the 1960’s all the way through today, everyone at some point has been touched by the Motown sound.

Dear Reader I want to encourage you to listen close to the Motown sound because if you listen close to the Motown sound you may hear God speaking to you. Understand Dear Reader that we serve an awesome God. I remember being young and lost in the world, and I remember being unsatisfied with what the world was giving me, and one day I heard the voice of God, and He said, Hello, is it me you’re looking for. He made salvation as easy as A-B-C, and as simple as 1-2-3. It was a simple decision because I could not find any joy in what the world was giving me, it was the same old song. See, God knew that I was Uptight, so he traced back the tracks of my tears and promised me endless love, and said to me that I’ll be there, all you have to do is reach out. Dear Reader I don’t want you to get caught up in superstition. God want to bring you to higher ground, and the spirit will chase you down until there is nowhere to run. And right when you stop living for the city and start living for God you realize that He was watching you from cloud 9 the whole time. Dear Reader when you are in trouble God wants you to know that there aint no mountain high enough to keep Him from getting to you! You are His child, and when you think about the love of Jesus who came down from Heaven wrapped himself in flesh and came down to earth to die for your sins, that should make you want to dance in the streets, all night long. He is the Supreme being that will be with you when everything is Smokey avoid your Temptations and, and He will work out a Miracle for you! That’s the Motown Sound!

Still Photography

If love is in your heart then everything that you do will be in the name of love. If there is peace in your spirit then everywhere you go there will be peace. I pray that you are in a place where peace and love abound. I pray that you are in a place where there is understanding and love. If you are in a place where the presence of peace, love, and understanding cannot be felt, then I pray that God will place enough of those things in you that you can bring about significant change, and the presence of God will be undeniable.

Good day to you all! There is something in your heart that needs to come out today! Do not allow another day to pass with an unforgiving, grudge holding spirit stuck in you because the space that is being occupied by that spirit could be of greater use to God! Let it go!

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

In order to expand my horizons I have taken up the hobby of photography. Being totally new to the hobby my first question was how do those professional photographers know what pictures to take. I have seen so many great photographs, and it seems like the person taking them was in the right place at the right time. I have seen photo’s of flowers and lightning strikes that were so striking and beautiful, it looked as though it was a photo shoot set up by God Himself. So then I decided to pick up my camera and try it myself. Let me tell you what I learned. I learned that there is beauty in stillness. When we look at a bird flying we are able to catch glimpses of what that bird looks like, but when you see that bird in a still photo, your eye gets a chance to take in all of the shades of colors and the majesty of this creature. You get a chance to see the intricacies of the feathers, and the delicateness of the flight. When you get to look at enough still photographs you start to understand that God put beauty is in the details.

Dear Reader, on this day, I want you to know that you are beautiful, and there is beauty all around you. I want you to know on this day that sometimes you just need to be still. Often times we miss the beauty that God has put in us and around us because we are moving too fast. I am not telling you that you should slow down, I am tell you that you should be still. In your stillness you can examine the beauty of the world around you. In your stillness you can examine the beauty that is in you. I know that we have schedules and places to be, but often times our rush to get from one place to another often puts us in a position where we miss out on a lot of what God has for us. This is the day that the Lord has made, but it’s had to rejoice and be glad in it if we are unaware of our surroundings. Take a snapshot of your day and you will be amazed at how rich and beautiful the details of the day really are. If you take a snapshot of your day you will even see that there is beauty in a storm. We live in a Polaroid instant photo world where if picture doesn’t develop fast enough we have a tendency to want to shake it up ourselves. The Polaroid company has said for years that shaking the pictures does not help the pictures develop any faster. God has been telling us for the longest time that His timing is not our timing and trying to shake up the things in our life is not helping at all. We need to be still. Love the details, and embrace the details. God has put so much beauty in you and around you Dear Reader, all you have to do is take a few moments each day and be still. God put beauty in your details, it would be a shame if you were to miss them.

Bounce Back

You are exactly what God made you to be, and that is a good thing! You are in the middle of God’s hand, and in the midst of God’s love, and that is enough to give Him praise! You have been through a lot, and God has covered you with His grace and mercy so be not afraid of what this world has put in front of you because God has got your back! There is something about the name of Jesus! Just the mention of His name can change the atmosphere! Praise God on this day and watch what was a bad situation turn around!

Good day to you all! Always seek peace, and speak love. You will have an impact where ever you go! The angels will be walking with you where ever you go, and God will protect you.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

I can remember when bungee jumping was popular. For thrill seekers it was the ultimate adrenaline rush. To jump from a high platform feeling like you are free falling, and just when you think that you are about to hit the ground, you are pulled back up by the elastic rope that has been tied around your ankle. Some people would not ever think about bungee jumping because they do not trust the rope that is secured around the ankles. What if it breaks? What is I hit the ground before the rope pulls me back up. Well the thrill seekers would tell the people that bungee jumping is not for the faint of heart. You have got to trust the equipment in order to get the full effect. You have got to know that when you are on your way down, you will come right back up.

Dear Reader, I want you to know that having faith is like bungee jumping. That is good to know because it can seem like we are just free falling through life. We watch our hopes and dreams pass us by. We see other people getting ahead. We watch bank accounts that were once doing well, dwindle down to nothing, and as we watch these things happen we fear that we are going to hit the ground. Let me tell you that following Jesus is not for the faint of heart. Dear Reader when you feel that you are free falling, God has secured you with His love. You may have been falling for a while, but the laws of physics tell us that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So the good news today Dear Reader is that if you have been on your way down for a while, the world better look out because when you bounce back there is nothing that can stop you. You may have seen other people getting ahead, and those dreams may seem like they are long gone, but oh Dear Reader, you just haven’t bounced back yet. If they thought that they saw the last of you, wait till you bounce back. Those people that you thought has passed you up will be trying to catch up to you when you bounce back. You have got to know that when you are on your way down that God has not left you and that you are not going to hit the ground. You are going to bounce right back up! There are some of us who don’t want to fall from too high up. Dear Reader put your trust in God and know that He has all power in His hands. He loves you are will never let you hit the ground without a soft place to land. You will bounce back!

Irreplaceable

Let the joy that has been bestowed upon you bless someone else. There are so many forces that will try to get in the way, but don’t let that stop you. Sometimes in order to stay on your feet you have to get on your knees. You can’t walk on water unless you get out of the boat. In other words you have to move towards God if you want to see a miracle happen. Thank God for this day because this is the day that the Lord has made!

Good day to you all! There are times when you want to give up on you, but I want to let you know that there is no better investment than the prayer investment you make on your behalf. Be of good cheer on this day, God is on your side!

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:13-16

I love old school music, but every now and then a new school song comes along that grabs my attention. Beyonce came out with a song that was called Irreplaceable. In this song Beyonce is telling her boyfriend that he shouldn’t think that he is irreplaceable. She even tells him in the song that she could have another just like him, and as a matter of fact he will be there in a minute. She tells him that she has got his things packed up and put in a box to the left. In this song she is kicking him out for good.

Dear Reader on this day, I want you to know that to God you are irreplaceable. He made you to be the best you possible and He loves you forever more. Understand that God wants the best for you so He wants you to pack up all of your old ways, and your old habits and put them in a box to the left. Once you have those things to the left, then God can get you right! You may have to get rid of some of those negative people that are in your life. When you get them out of your life they may start talking that mess, that’s fine, as long as they can walk and talk at the same time. So many times we surround ourselves with troublemakers and wonder why we are always in trouble. We sometimes surround ourselves with trash talkers and wonder why our life is a mess. I want to tell you from experience that if you surround yourself with people who know how to pray, you will experience miracles. Dear Reader, you are irreplaceable! God made you and he only made one of you, and He cares about every hair on your head. Never forget that you are beautiful, loved, and blessed, and Dear Reader to God you are irreplaceable!

Let's Stay Together

Be of good cheer today, and do not let anyone borrow, use, or steal your joy! Do not allow anyone to bury your joy! Do not allow anyone to hide your joy! That little light of yours is enough to light of someone’s dark sky, so on this day I want to remind you of how important your little light is in helping someone else shine. Don’t let anyone turn out your power. Your joy is helping someone get through this day!

Good day to you all! Forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive! It cannot be said enough that forgiveness is the key to the door behind which your blessings are stored! Unlock your blessings and forgive someone today!

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Being an old school music lover my collection is full of Al Green’s music. Arguably one of the greatest soul singers, it has been said that no one could sing a song quite like Al Green. One of my favorite Al Green songs is “Let’s Stay Together”. This song is about unity, and staying together under any and all circumstances. If we think about relationships that we have lost in the past, and what it was that brought about the change in those relationships often we can say that those things were silly. Family members not speaking to each other over money. Marriages split apart because of misunderstandings. Friendships dismantled because of pride. Sometimes it is good to hear the voice of Al Green sending out a message of hope. Sometimes it takes an old song to bring new meaning to our relationships. Let’s Stay Together.

Dear Reader, let’s stay together. Dear Reader whether times are good, or bad, happy or sad. Let’s stay together. When we are in relationship with God, He is faithful to stay with us whether times are good, or bad, happy or sad. He will stick closer to us than a brother. His love endures forever. God does not move away from us, often we move away from Him, but when we move away from Him, God pulls out the old record player. My bad, we serve an up to date God, so let me rephrase; God pulls out the iPod. He turns on Al Green, and then goes to track number 6 (yes I have the track number memorized), and He puts on “Let’s Stay Together”. Jesus said that He was the vine and we are the branches, and we can do nothing without Him. So many times we try to get away from the vine and grow by ourselves, but Jesus is saying to you, Let’s Stay Together. In order for you to grow the way that I want you to grow, and know the things that I want you to know, Let’s Stay Together! Dear Reader if you are out there trying to make it on your own, God is playing your song right now. Let’s Stay Together!

Somebody's Watching Me

You have opened your eyes to a new day, and God is still making a way for you! You are right around the corner from a miracle so don’t give up! There is so much more in store for you! The days may seem like they are not amounting to anything, but that’s just because you are the one that is doing the calculating. In God’s perfect plan everything is adding up just as it should!

Good day to you all! I pray that during your personal struggles that you keep looking up! In know that there are times when we feel that we are so low that all we can do is look up, but I want you to know that God is still with you even at your lowest points. God is always there to lift you up, and He will take care of you!

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day Psalm 91:1-16

How many times have we felt all alone? How many times have we felt like there is no one there but us? There are times when we feel like we are a minor inconvenience in a major world. Yes Dear Reader there are times when we feel like we are all alone. Every now and then God can seem so far away. Don’t worry about that Dear Reader because we have all been there. I want to you to remember today that you are beautiful, loved, and blessed, and God has got you in the palm of His hand.

Dear Reader it is June, and that means that it is Black Music Month. When we think of Black Music we think of great artist such as James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Isaac Hayes, Prince, or Michael Jackson. However, today I need a little help from lesser know artist named Rockwell. Today I am reminded of his one hit “Somebody’s Watching Me”. Dear Reader whenever I feel like I am going through it alone, I look up and I remember that somebody is watching me, and that somebody has all power in His hands. No, I am not paranoid. Human eyes can only see so much. God has got his eyes on me, and He can see everyhthing! Dear Reader God has got His eye on you! I can remember being lost in a crowd at Disney World when I was young, and my mother spotted me in the crowd. I ask her how she saw me in the middle of all of those people, and she said to me, “Son, you are mine, and I will always be able to spot you in a crowd.” Dear Reader the good news today is that you belong to God, and He can spot you in a crowd when you need help.
